T71/1610: letter, dated 28/12/1835, from John Weymouth, acting for Jane Kirwan (a judgement creditor for £10,000 on the estates of the late Clement Kirwan).
See also Antigua claim no. 267.
T71/1610: includes 'Particulars of claim', which shows William Dardis Furlonge as a claimant for Montserrat claim nos. 231 and 232 (the Symes and Paradise estates) and Fernie et al as counterclaimants (under mortgage deeds for £20,000 upwards). A note says that the award was made to the counterclaimants. Mr Weymouth states that Mr Furlong, although he claimed as owner in fee, has assigned all his right and title to the slave property for valuable consideration who had thus the legal estate in the slaves for whom compensation was claimed. His client Mrs Kirwan, for whom he would have entered a counterclaim if he had been furnished with a copy of Fernie & Co's counterclaim sooner, is a judgment creditor of Fernie & Co.
T71/1593: letter, dated 16/03/1836, from the Court of Chancery to S. Higham, National Debt Office, to stop the payment on Montserrat claim nos. 231 and 232 'while we enquire'.
