Founded in London as Stirling Hunter by Andrew Stirling, of William Stirling & Co., of Glasgow, in 1792.
Commission in bankrupt[cy] dated in the year 1826 against Walter Sterling [sic] and John Sterling [sic] of Bow Church-yard in London carrying on business under the firm Sterling [sic] Boos [sic, for 'Bros'] and Co.
In 1835, Walter Stirling and Stirling & Beckton scotch mnfs are shown separately at 5 Bow Churchyard.

Enslaved boy on Unity Valley Pen, Jamaica. Manumitted in 1795 by David Barclay and removed to Philadelphia, with 29 other freed persons from the estate, where he was placed under the care of Society for Improving the Condition of Free Blacks.
