Lineage asserted between firm established by James Hyde and James Bartlett 'two of the oldest settler families' and John Hodge a London merchant, bought out by British Honduras Company in 1859 which was in turn renamed the Belize Estate and Produce Co. ('B.E.C.) in 1875
