Other

Robert Kirke's Gift

'A large collection of exotic mammals, birds, and insects was presented to the [Glasgow] Museum by the late Mr. Robert Kirke, Greenmount, Burntisland' in 1876; later (apparently c. 1904) the rest of the collection was presented by Kirke's trustees, including 'a fine series of insects, a collection of stuffed birds, birds' nests, and eggs, and mammals from Dutch Guiana, also a cabinet of European lepidoptera systematically arranged, the whole comprising many thousands of specimens.' Peter McNair, 'On the development of the Natural History Collections in the Glasgow Museums', Proceedings of the Royal Philosophical Society of Glasgow, Vol XXXVIII (1906-1907). The collection no longer appears to be separately identified.

Notes
