'Ann Launce Hill' was registered as a charity 26/01/1962 and amalgamated 29/02/1992; a second, apparently separate 'Charity of Ann Launce Hill' was registered 22/09/1999 'Religious congregations and associations.' The bodies appear to have arisen from the provision in the will of Ann Launce Hill of funds. She left £500 in trust for the maintenance of the graves in St Mary's Southampton of her mother Ann Newell and her sister Bridget Launce Hill, and the grave in Holy Rood Southampton of her late husband; any surplus was to be applied to the benefit of the 'distressed objects' of the two parishes.

Free woman of colour; left Demerara in 1812 as a young woman and settled in Starthforth, Yorkshire, where she died in 1862.
