Mill Hill School Committee member

Notes

Ebenezer Maitland was one of the two dozen members of the Committee of the Protestant Dissenters Academy at Mill Hill in 1821 (alongside William Alers Hankey), Statement of the design and plan of the Protestant Dissenters' Grammar School at Mill Hill (1821). Robert Maitland, identified by Roderick Braithwaite in his history of Mill Hill 'Strikingly Alive...' p. 41 as the son of a director of the Bank of England [i.e. of Ebenezer Maitland], was an early pupil and co-author of the first map of the school. There is however ambiguity in the entry for Robert Maitland in the Cambridge University Alumni records as to the parentage of this Robert.
