Notes

The works building was surveyed in 1836 by James Dadley. By then it was a relatively small sugar estate that was worked by 123 apprentices. It belonged to the heirs of Nathaniel Phillips, a deceased absentee and was managed by Dominic Loague. James Robertson in his 1804 map and Daley in his later survey depicted both a cattle and water mill. The water was funneled via a gutter that piped it across a ravine. The buildings were clustered in a dangerous arrangement and Dadley noted that the trash house had burnt down in 1836.
