  1. John Castlefranc Cheveley visits 'McDonald Edmonston' in Demerara in the early 1820s, meets Robert Edmonston [sic] and comments that Robert's brother Archy had inherited the business from his uncle 'old Mr Archibald', an upriver timber merchant.
