The will of Fergus Paterson of Grenada made in 1784, attested in 1785 and proved in London in 1788 shows him as partner in Coll Turner & Co. of London.

The Buff Bay plantation was a sugar estate next to the Buff Bay River, south of Charlestown in Jamaica. By 1839, the estate was 840 acres.
