His son James Black Miller was a merchant at some point living in Bombay, although the exact details of his relations with the East India Company are unknown.

The Buff Bay plantation was a sugar estate next to the Buff Bay River, south of Charlestown in Jamaica. By 1839, the estate was 840 acres.
