Lt Col. Thomas Moody's son Richard Clement Moody (1813-1887) (named after his slave-owning grandfather of Barbados) played an important role in the early history of British Columbia as chief commissioner of lands and works and lieutenant governor, where he came into conflict with the Governor James Douglas (q.v.).
