Biography

Son of Henry Dawkins MP (1728-1814), brother of Henry Dawkins and George Hay Dawkins Pennant (both of whom q.v.), and awarded the compensation for the York and Gale's Valley estates in Trelawney.

  1. John Dawkins, son of Henry of St George's Hanover Square arm., matriculated Christ Church 04/02/1791 aged 17, fellow All Souls 1797-1844, B.C.L. 1797, D.C.L. 1802, Bar[rister] at law Lincolns Inn 1800, died 1844.

  2. There is a memorial to John Dawkins in the church of St Andrews, Waterloo Street Hove, where he died at 5 Marine Parade in December 1844. Will of John Dawkins Fellow of All Souls College Oxford of Saint Marylebone Middlesex proved 10/01/1845. He left an annuity of £1000 p.a to Frances Maxwell of Paris and of £800 p.a. to her daughter after her death, and 200 guineas to All Souls. His residuary heirs were his eight nephews and nieces, sons and daughters of his brothers Henry and Richard and of his sister Elizabeth Serjeantson.
