Biography

MP for Cheshire 1780-1796 and father of Lord Combermere [q.v.]. Through his marriage to Frances Stapleton he came into an interest in the Stapleton estates in St Kitts and Nevis, which he reportedly sold to his sister-in-law Catherine Stapleton (q.v.) in 1776.
