Will of Isaac Higgin [late of the parish of Saint Ann and island of Jamaica but now] of Grove Cottage near Tooting Surrey [and of London Street Fenchurch Street City of London] merchant (made in October 1831) was proved 15/05/1832. In the will he detailed recent purchases in Jamaica, including (1) the Cave Valley plantation or sugar works in St Ann from Edward James Esq., subject to an annuity of £400 p.a. to Timothy Bellamore and his wife Rebecca and an annuity of £1200 p.a. to Edward James and a sum of £14,000 now reduced to £12,000, together with adjacent lands from different vendors; (2) the Dover Castle pen. He left these estates together with two others he named as Tooting and Hyde Park in trust to secure, among other monetary legacies, annuities of £700 p.a. to his wife Margaret and £100 p.a. to his sister Mary. The will identifies his partner as George Whiteley and his nephew and niece as George and Jane Whiteley, presumably the children of his partner and brother-in-law. It identified his eldest son as John.
