Mary Ann and Charlotte Austin jointly registered the ownership of one enslaved person in Kingston in 1829.
Tentatively identified as the daughters of Charles Austin (1780-1826) and his "free quadroon" housekeeper Mary Austin. Mary Ann was born 11/12/1801 and baptised in Kingston 07/02/1802. Charlotte and another daughter, Jane, were baptised in Port Royal 11/07/1809.
Charles Austin was described by Benjamin McMahon in Jamaica Plantership as "a monster in human shape", one of whose daughters "formed a connection... in the island fashion" with Thomas Penny Kellerman. Mary Ann Kellerman, age 98, died of old age in St Andrew, Jamaica, in 1897.
