Biography

  1. Will of Edward Smith planter of St Elizabeth [made in 1837] proved 04/07/1839. He left to his wife Elizabeth Claver an annuity of £400 p.a. and to his son Edward Claver £2500. To his eldest daughter Mary Ann Fieler[?] he left £2500 and a wharf and lands in Westmoreland known as Paradise for life, then to her children; to his second daughter Elizabeth Frances Robertson also £2500; he left the freehold estates of Breadnut Valley and Haughton to his second son Raynes Waite Smith. A long affidavit dated 12/05/1839 by Elizabeth Claver Smith of 64 Guildford Street supporting the copy of the will she had as a true will stated that the couple had moved from Jamaica in 1837 and that Edward Smith had died on 18th May last.
