Biography

  1. Born 21/04/1803 and baptised 22/04/1803 in Christ Church, Barbados, son of William Eversley and his wife Elizabeth (nee Welch, William's second wife). Educated at Charterhouse School. Married 22/10/1827 in Barbados to Margaret [Martha] Quintyne Haynes.

  2. Living at Southstoke, Somerset in the census of 1841, age 35, of independent means, born foreign parts, with Martha age 30, also born foreign parts. Son Edward Haynes baptised at Southstoke 02/09/1841, father's occupation gentleman. At Prospect Cottage, Widcome, Bath in the census of 1851 (surrounding entries are for Macaulay Buildings so Prospect Cottage is assumed to be on this street), age 47, retired army lieutenant ("sold out"), born West Indies, with wife Martha Q, age 42, son Edward H. age 9, 1 male servant and 3 female servants. At Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire, in 1861, "Army retired", age 57, with Martha age 53, Edward H. age 19, 3 female servants and a 21-year-old visitor, a solicitor's clerk named Henry Hewitt.

  3. Remarried, to Angelina Harris, in Bradford on Avon in 1865. Living at Havre des Pas, St Helier, Jersey in the census of 1871, age 67, retired military officer, with wife Angelina Eversley age 45.

  4. The will of Edward Welch Eversley late of 6 Macaulay Buildings in the City of Bath, late a captain in Her Majesty's 60th Rifles, died 12/11/1879 at 6 Macaulay Buildings, will proved by Joseph Aaron Timmins of 4 Henrietta Street, Bath solicitor and sole executor. Effects under £600.
