18th Nov 1842 - 26th Nov 1896
Born 18/11/1842 in Canada, eldest son of Frederick Broome, a clergyman and Catherine Eleanor née Napier. Lived in New Zealand 1857-1864 and 1865-1868 where he farmed sheep. Married Mary Anne Barker née Stewart, daughter of Walter George Stewart (q.v.) in England, 21/06/1865.
Returned to England in 1868 and worked as a journalist. Published two books of poetry, Poems from New Zealand and The Stranger of Seriphos in 1869 and 1869.

Died after returning in ill-heath to England from Trinidad, 26/11/1896, and was buried in Highgate Cemetery.
