1820 - 1900
Dental surgeon who pioneered the use of anaesthetics in Australia. Son of John Belisario, a shipping merchant, and his wife Catherine Da Costa. Spent about a year on his uncle's plantation in the West Indies c. 1836. It's not clear which of the Da Costa or Belisario family members this relates to, but both families were active slave-owners in Jamaica in the 1830s.
