Biography

Father of Isabella Dobinson née Logan (q.v.). Owner of Arcadia, Cedar Grove and Airy Mount in Jamaica, the compensation for which was awarded to his daughter. His natural son Robert Logan was a pioneering settler at Red River in Canada. His name was perpetuated by two of his grandsons, Rev. Logan Logan ne Dobinson and Francis Logan ne Dobinson.

  1. Will of Robert Logan of Egham Lodge Surrey proved 06/12/1826. He left his wife £500 and an annuity of £1000 p.a. He left Egham Lodge for his wife to occupy for her life, then to his daughter Isabella Dobinson for her life, and then to Isabella and Joseph Dobinson's daughter (also named Isabella). He ordered his estate named Arcadia, his pen named Cedar Grove and his mansion house at Airy Mount to be sold by his executors for the benefit of his daughter's children. In a codicil he left £2000 to his natural son Robert Logan of the Hudson Bay Company, now or late of Red River.
