1787 - 8th Jul 1856
Resident clergyman, claimed unsuccessfully for three awards in Barbados as owner-in-fee, heir-at-law and administrator. John Higginson and his successors appear as creditors both for the Gretton estate connected with the Hon. John Brathwaite and for a counterclaim against Rev. John Brathwaite (under Barbados no. 4992), raising the possibility that [Hon.] John Brathwaite (q.v.) and Rev. John Brathwaite were one and the same.
Son of Miles Brathwaite of Barbados, matriculated Christ Church, Oxford, in 1806 age 19; BA 1810.
"The Rev. John Brathwaite, B.A , died July 8, at Gloucester-street, Paddington, aged 69. He was formerly of Christchurch, Oxford, and rector of St. Lucy's, Barbadoes. He was the eldest son of the Hon. Miles Brathwaite, of Barbados."
T71/899 Barbados no. 4229; T71/898 Barbados no. 3649; Barbados no. 2751; Barbados no. 3110.
