Biography

Sir Augustus Brydges Henniker, 3rd bart., of Newton Hall, Essex. Unsuccessful counterclaimant for Watson's estate in Antigua with Jane Watson Roberts, acting executors of James Watson Roberts, for a legacy to James Watson Roberts by the will of James Watson, £2700.

  1. Born 24/01/1795, second son of Lieut. Gen. Sir Brydges Trecothick Henniker, 1st bart., and his wife Mary Press. He inherited the title on the death of his elder brother Frederick, 06/08/1825. The estate of his father was the subject of the Chancery case Whythe v. Henniker in 1833. Schooled 'under Mr Gee, Vicar of Thaxted'. Graduated MA from Jesus College, Cambridge, 1826. Rector of Great with Little Thornham, Suffolk, 1820-1849. Died 28/01/1849.

  2. In the 1841 census at Haughley, Stow, Suffolk, age 40, of Independent Means, with his second wife Louisa, age 30. This return reveals more children: Frances, Mary, Louisa, Anna and Annabella (all age 15 - rounded down to the nearest 5 years), Charlotta, 9, Matilda, 8, Brydges, 6, Augusta, 4, Douglas, 2 and Joanna, 5 months, plus a governess, 6 female servants and 3 male servants. The census entry for Lady Henniker in 1851 reveals another daughter, Olivia M., born c. 1844.
