Biography

Born in St John's, Antigua, c. 1796, one of a group of people, including her husband John Steigenberger, who claimed compensation for Beth Lodge as an executor of Jacob Walter (q.v.).

  1. John Steigenberger married Christianna Elizabeth Walter 11/05/1816 at St Dunstan, Stepney. In the census of 1841 they are living at 4 Bethell Place, St Giles Camberwell, Surrey. John age 50, of independent means, not born in county, Christianna age 40, Christianna age 20, Charlotte age 15, Emily age 5 and 1 female servant. By 1851 they are living in Heston, Middlesex, John age 61 born in Shadwell, Middlesex, Christianna age 55 born in Antigua, St John's, 3 of their children all born in Heston and 1 female servant. By 1861 the widowed Christianna is living in Heston with 2 of her children, 3 grandchildren (all born in Melbourne, Australia), a boarder and 2 female servants.

  2. The will of Christianna Elizabeth Steigenberger, formerly of Heston but late of 51 St Andrew's, Uxbridge, who died 30/07/1889 was proved by Thomas Ambrose Steigenberger Skinner, her grandson and sole executor. Effects £19 19s.
