Fifth son of Mayer Amschel Rothschild (1744-1812) and Gutle Schnapper (1753-1849). Paris-based banker and financier. Named as a claimant for Matthew's estate in Antigua on the basis of a mortgage but not listed as an awardee. Part of the compensation was awarded to his brother Nathan Mayer Rothschild, who also put together the £20 million government loan which financed the compensation process.
