1800 - 1880
Given as 'Joseph Lavicourt' in the compensation records but in fact Joseph Lavicount (the son of the Antigua slave-owner John Proctor Anderdon q.v. was John Lavicount Anderdon q.v.). Son of John Lavicount, Member of Council of Antigua, and Anne Gravenor.
The will of Joseph Lavicount formerly of the Island of Antigua afterwards of 20 Kildare Terrace Westbourne Park but late of 2 Cressingham Grove Sutton Surrey who died 26/12/1880 was proved 18/01/1881 by Endora [sic] Margaret Adlam widow the daughter, personal estate under £100. This Joseph Lavicount was aged 80 at death. He would therefore appear to have been quite young to have been the Joseph Lavicount who registered enslaved people on Antigua in 1817 (signing by mark).
Joseph Lavicount widower had married Margaret Spenser Harman 05/05/1830 at Winsley in Wiltshire. Both claims by Joseph Lavicount were by him 'in right of wife, guardian of heirs of Wm. Harman'; Lavicount's wife Margaret Spenser or Spencer Harman was the widow of William Harman (q.v.).
