Of Salem and Barbados, early purchaser of land and estates in Demerara and Essequibo (Nieuw Walcheren and Pyra plantations in 1746), and partner with Henry Lascelles. In 1767, after his father's death, Gedney Clarke jun. sold out all 11 of the family's plantations and re-invested in Grenada and Tobago.
