Biography

Brother of Robert Houstoun (q.v.) and thus by inference son of Andrew Houstoun of Jordanhill (q.v.). Large-scale attorney for in Grenada, and himself a slave-owner there, the owner of two estates in the late 1820s.

  1. Will of Hon. Andrew Houstoun member of HM Council of Grenada [made in 1828 with a codicil of 1829] proved 08/03/1833. He left £1000 each to his three sisters Elizabeth Rea [sic], Isabella and Helen or such of them who remained unmarried; and £1000 each to his nieces Margaret Wallace Houstoun and Elizabeth Isabella Houstoun. He left £3000 each to his five natural children with Marie Victoire Goulard or Gourlard, and £5000 to their natural son Andrew. He placed the rest of his property in trust (except for his house in Heriot Row Edinburgh, which he said he intended to dispose separately by a deed in Scotland)
