Charles McDermott was son of enslavers Frances McDermot and Mary McDermot (née Coward). He was born on 26 February 1776 and died at Orangefield in October 1826.
Charles McDermott held enslaved people from by 1817 in St Thomas-in-the-Vale, both as owner and guardian for his children: Mary Ann McDermott, Charles Henry McDermott, Francis McDermott, Henry McDermott, and Elizabeth McDermott. Charles McDermott in 1823 and 1826 was the executor for Elizabeth McKenzie, St Thomas-in-the-Vale.
