Son of David Scrymgeour and Katharine Wedderburn, the daughter of Sir Alexander Wedderburn of Blackness 4th bart. De jure 7th Earl of Dundee, after inheriting from his brother Alexander in 1811. In Jamaica when he married in 1793. He was shown as the owner of Baulk between 1795 and 1807.
