Slave-owner in Jamaica, dying at Clifton c. 1816.

  1. Will of Matthew Montague [late of Granby House, Hotwells] Clifton [made in 1812] proved 27/04/1816. In the will he left his property including coffee plantations in Jamaica in trust for his present wife Elizabeth for life, subject to legacies of £200 each to his two natural children, William Montague of Wraxall and Frances Brooks Montague of Bath.
