Illegitimate daughter of Andrew Wright and Ruth Sinclair. Interited a half share in Mitcham in St Elizabeth in trust from her father in 1806 on condition that she not return to Jamaica unless married.

  1. Born February 1788 and baptised 18/12/1789 in St Elizabeth, Jamaica, the daughter of Mr Andrew Wright and Ruth Sinclair (a free Mestee ['octoroon']), "Child reputed white". Married Francis Maitland 29/07/1806 in St Clement Danes, London.

  2. Her eldest child Frances Ann was baptised in 1808 in Camberwell, Surrey, England. Four sons, Andrew Wright, John, Francis and Richard, were baptised in St Elizabeth, Jamaica, in 1814 and a further three sons George, Alexander and Septimus in St Elizabeth, Jamaica, in 1821. Their father Francis was described as a free man of colour in the baptism records. Another son Octavius was baptised in Kennington, Surrey, England, in 1825.

  4. A portion of Giddy Hall estate in St Elizabeth appears to have been owned by Ann outright and was bequeathed to her children in her will.
