Septimus Maitland

Son of Francis Maitland and his wife Ann nee Wright. Inherited a share in Mitcham and Silver Grove estates in trust under the will of his grandfather Andrew Wright on the death of his mother Ann c. 1833. Born 20/01/1821 and baptised in St Elizabeth, Jamaica, in 1821.

1. Married Susan H. McBride, daughter of John McBride, a manufacturer, and his wife Margaret nee Welsh, at her residence of Albyn House, Little Govan, Glasgow, 15/01/1856 when his usual residence was given as London and his father's occupation as planter. Remarried to Julia Ann Wilson in Bath, Somerset, Q4 1867.

2. A boarder at Commerical Road, Mile, End, London, in the census of 1841, age 20. Living at Ditton, Kent, from at least 1859 to 1874 (in the census of 1871 at this address with his wife Julia Ann and children Francis John, Annie Emma, Harry and Edith). At 8 Addison Cresent, Kensington, from at least 1880 to 1881 (A visitor at Emmetts, Brasted, Kent in the census of 1881 but his family were in Addison Crescent). Of Tylehurst, Parkhurst Road, Bexley, Kent from at least 1899 to his death in 1902.
