Third son of Thomas Wallace of Cairnhill and brother of John Wallace of Kelly (q.v.). Succeeded to a half-share in Biscany estate but it's not clear from whom. John Wallace of Kelly owned the other half. Married 16/08/1753 to Margaret White (she died 18/04/1784), 4 sons and 2 daughters.
One daughter died young, the other, Margaret, married Andrew Houston of Jordanhill in 1779. She died at Hamilton 25/12/1789.
Thomas, eldest son, born 22/12/1757, died 26/06/1763.
Hugh, second son, born 25/09/1760, succeeded to his father's estate. Captain in the army, married Frances, second daughter of James Ritchie of Busbie and Craigton 25/08/1788. Six sons, one daughter. Succeeded by his eldest son Hugh Ritchie Wallace.
William, third son, born 21/06/1763, Lieut. Col. of the 20th Regiment of Infantry, died unmarried 1813.
John, fourth son, born 26/11/1765, died in India, unmarried.
Hugh Wallace and his wife Margaret were in St Elizabeth, Jamaica for the baptisms of at least three of their children: Margaret (1755), Thomas (1758) and Hugh (1761).
Hon. Hugh Wallace, Custos of Westmoreland Parish, was buried at Craigie, 24/10/1774.
