Owner of Linton Park in Trelawney, Jamaica. Deceased by 1817.

  1. Married Rebecca Haughton Reid of Trelawny, 14/4/1778, and had children:

    . John Reid Linton, esq: born 24/02/1779 and baptised 26/12/1781; buried at Linton Park, 21/05/1812, aged 34

    . Thomas Reid Linton, esq: born 26/12/1780 and baptised 26/12/1781; buried at Linton Park, 27/12/1814, aged 34, having died the Sunday night preceding

    . Mary Haughton Linton: born 22/03/1783 and baptised 17/05/1785; married J E Nash, q.v.

    . Milborough Graves Linton: born 22/03/1785 and baptised 17/05/1785; see sub Reid

    . Olive Reid Linton: born 22/01/1787 and baptised 12/05/1788; buried 19/10/1790, having died the same day

    . Robert William Linton: born 01/01/1790 and baptised 27/01/1790; buried at Linton Park, 29/10/1814, aged 24

    . Joseph Linton: born 15/08/1791 and baptised 09/12/1791.

  2. John Mason esq married Miss E. R. Linton, daughter of the late Joseph Linton esq of Linton Park, at Good Intent, St Ann, 1815.

  3. Joseph Linton died 12/09/1795 and was buried the same day (father or son?).

  4. Rebecca Haughton Linton was buried at Peterkins, 31/07/1792 (probably the wife).

  5. In 1821, an enslaved man named Cuffee reportedly admitted or claimed to have poisoned Joseph Linton some years before: this was in the context of Cuffee's imprisonment (and escape) with three others charged with the murder of 'Mr Henry Edwards' the late overseer of Linton Park, for which the three other than Cuffee were hanged on Linton Park.
