Sir George Osborn

1742 - 1818

Biography

MP successively for Northampton, Bossiney, Penryn and Horsham between 1768 and 1784. Son-in-law of John Banister (q.v.), London West India merchant and mortgagee of estates and enslaved people: Banister left £5000 to John Osborn (his grandson and Sir George Osborn's son). John Osborn was party as an 'Infant Mortgagee' to a deed of 1787 under which James Nibbs redeemed a mortgage held by Banister's heirs on an estate described as Dickinsons Bay Plantation and tentatively identified by LBS as later forming part of Marble Hill.
