Biography

  1. Will of Edward Bytagh [late of Jamaica but now] of Kilgeverad [sic] County Galway proved 13/08/1802. In the will he left his wife a third-interest in his estate, gave legacies of £500 each to his siblings in Ireland and made Edward Bytagh, second son of his brother Dominick Bytagh, his residuary heir. He instructed his executors to sell his property in Jamaica. Dominick Beytagh [sic] was the co-heir of another Jamaican slave-owner, Henry Cuniffe (q.v.). In a codicil he said that he had forgotten to make any provision for his reputed daughter Catherine Bytagh 'mulatto girl of Jamaica', and left her an annuity of £20 p.a.
