Born 1733 or 1734. Father of William Rhodes James III (who predeceased him) and grandfather of William Rhodes James IV (both of whom q.v.). His inventory in 1808 showed assets of £16,286 2s 6d but his remaining enslaved people were mortgaged to the Wedderburns, and his Fontabelle estate with the enslaved people attached to it had been put up for for sale by the Wedderburns in 1805.
