1781 - 1852
Slave-owner in Jamaica, owner of Schaw Castle,
A memorial was reported at Bath Abbey for Alexander Campbell of Schaw Castle died 07/06/1852 aged 71 and to Susanna Campbell widow of Alexander Campbell who died 11/03/1863 aged 81.
The will of Alexander Campbell Major in HM's Service of Bath proved 03/07/1852 is almost certainly that of this man. Although the will makes no reference to Jamaica property, it provided a legacy of £50 for Margaret Roper, daughter of Dr William Roper of Jamaica. The residual heir was David Rae Smith, son of his [the testator's] wife Susanna.
