Inherited Cocoa Walk in St Catherine, Jamaica, after the death of her young nephew John Wellington MackGlashan in the early 1820s.
Charlotte Wilhelmina McGlashan married Fountain Elwin of the 44th Regiment of Foot by licence, 20/01/1807 in Walcot, Somerset. Twins, John Fountain and Charlotte Anne Mary, were born 08/06/1810 and baptised 15/05/1811 in Walcot.
Charlotte Elwin, age 55, was living at Kensington Place in Walcot in the census of 1841, age 55, with Ann Elwin age 35 and 2 female servants. Charlotte Elwin, age 68, was a widow living at 15 Kensington Place, Walcot, in the census of 1851, fundholder, born in Jamaica, with her daughter Eliza Evered, also a widow, age 43, born Malta, two female and one male servants.
The will of Charlotte Wilhelmina Elwin of Bath, widow of Fountain Elwin, a Lieutenant Colonel in Her Majesty's Army, was written in 1847 with a codicil from 1850 and proved at London in 1853. The will mentions daughters Charlotte Ann Mary Elwin, Frances Rebecca Mary Turner Elwin and Eliza Maria Evered and son John Fountain Elwin.
