Biography

Bristol West India merchant, husband of Mary Dehany Mountague and father of Ralph Mountague junior, who predeceased him.

  1. Will of Ralph Mountague [formerly of Jamaica but now] of Bristol proved 19/06/1827. In the will he left his wife an annuity of £250 p.a., having already provided her a residence in Bristol, plus a rental of £50 p.a for her enslaved people on Bandon as long as they were attached there. Unusually he made his wife Mary Dehany Mountague and his grand-daughter Mary Mountague trustees of all his property for the benefit of his grandchildren.
