Biography

Second son of Sir Charles Modyford of Angells, Jamaica. Suceeded his brother Sir Norton Modyford to the title c. 1690. Resided at St Jago de la Vega. Married firstly a daughter of John Hathersale, merchant of London, and secondly Jane, daughter of Sir William Beeston. Died s.p. in 1703. His widow married Charles Long of Longueville.

Sir Thomas Modyford of St Catherine, baronet. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1704. Slave-ownership at probate: 527 of whom 216 were listed as male and 311 as female. 0 were listed as boys, girls or children.
