Hugh Kirkpatrick, major slave-owner in Jamaica. Deceased by 1747.

  1. Hugh Kirkpatrick, deceased was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 646 acres of land in St James and 420 acres of land in Westmoreland, total 1066 acres.

  2. Died intestate leaving two daughters, one of whom died s.p. intestate, the other of whom married Thomas Hall of Hanover l"who in her right possessed himself of Hugh Kirkpatrick's real and personal estate to a very considerable amount." Thomas Hall's eldest son was Thomas Kirkpatrick Hall.

  3. Hugh Kirkpatrick of Westmoreland, Esquire. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1747. Slave-ownership at probate: 485 of whom 266 were listed as male and 219 as female. 184 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £47,923.63 Jamaican currency of which £24,928.25 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £19,023.75 currency debts and £277.72 currency plate.
