Frances Wright James formerly Wright (née Brooks)

1797 - 1828

Biography

Mother of Helen Frances Wright later Clifton (q.v.). She had married first William Burt Wright and then Thomas James (each of whom q.v.), and was buried at Brighton 17/04/1828 aged 31.

  1. Will of Frances Wright James wife of Cobham Surrey [made in 1823] proved 20/10/1828. She opened her will by rehearsing her marriage settlement with Thomas James, under which her 'real and personal estate and slaves' to which she was entitled as a life-interest was assigned in trust [it appears for her to retain control of it despite her 'intended couverture'], but she willed it anyway to her husband.
