John Bell Crompton of Derby

???? - 1860

Biography

Banker in Derby, partner in Crompton, Newton & Co. of Chesterfield which by 1830 appears to have shared all its partners with the similarly-named bank of Derby, although the two did not formally merge until 1877. John Bell Crompton was a legatee of John Hall (q.v.), who left him his [unspecified] estates in Derby. It appears that John Bell Crompton's sister Elizabeth had married John Hall's brother Thomas Kirkpatrick Hall.
