Daughter of Thomas Powell (q.v.). She moved to England by 1881 when she was living with her nephew Rev. William [Maitland] Clark [also born Jamaica] and his family at Wildwood School in Hampstead; in 1891 the family were at Kingsgate Street, Winchester. She died at Winchester in 1895.

Born into slavery in Carriacou, Grenada, Malvina Wells became a lady's maid in Edinburgh and a trusted family friend to her employers.
