James Heywood

First son and heir of Peter Heywood and his wife Grace Drake, nee Modyford. Baptised 1684/5 in St Andrew. Member of Assembly 1708-1722. Purchased Maristow in Devon, England. Died 01/02/1738. Father of James Modyford Heywood of Maristow.

James Heywood of St Mary, Esquire. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1740. Slave-ownership at probate: 232 of whom 126 were listed as male and 106 as female. 67 were listed as boys, girls or children.
