Biography

George McKenzie was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 2095 acres of land in Clarendon.

Very likely Sir George Mackenzie, only son and heir of Sir Alexander Mackenzie of Darien (q.v.). Of Farenough and Killetts, Jamaica. Born 23/09/1711 in Jamaica. His father died in 1744 but he appears not to have assumed the title. Married Mary, daughter of Paul Stevens, in Jamaica in 1746. Died c. 1780. His widow died in England and was buried at Worplesdon, Surrey, aged 73 in 1798. He was suceeded by his eldest son George (1747-1815).
