Biography

Member of Assembly for Vere in Jamaica.

  1. Archibald Sympson Esquire married Joan Marchant, widow, in Vere 17/10/1773. This may be the son of Dr Archibald Sympson rather than the doctor himself.

  2. "Samuel Tate and Frances Porter both of the Parish of St Peter the Great in the city of Chichester Sussex were married by Banns in the Parish Church of St Peter the Great aforesaid on Sunday the Twelfth of September 1773 by Rd Trueman, Vicar a true copy taken from the Original parcht Certificate the 18 January 1774 by me, J Lindsay DD Rector. Mem. The above Saml Tate was formerly a Negro the property of and freed by Edward Long Esq also Frances Tate formerly F Porter a Negro the property and freed by Miss Fanny Byndloss late the wife of Dr Archd Simpson."

  3. Lately, at Jamaica [death] of Dr Archibald Sympson member of the Assembly.
