Thomas Pestell

???? - 1731

Biography

  1. Thomas Pestell of St Dorothy, Jamaica. Son of Rev. Thomas Pestell of Ravenstone and father of Hanbury Saunders Pestell. His uncle Beaumont Pestell and first cousin Alger Pestell were both based in Jamaica. Died between October 1731 and February 1731/2.

  2. Thomas Pestell gentleman married Elizabeth Saunders in St Catherine, Jamaica, 05/06/1716. They had two children baptised in St Catherine: Elizabeth in 1717/18 and Hanson Thomas in 1720/21. Neither of these children are mentioned in Thomas's will so presumably they died young.

  3. His father has an entry in Venn's Almuni Cantabrigienses: Admitted sizar at Queens' College in 1675. Of Leicestershire. Matriculated 1675, BA 1678/9. Rector of Ravenstone, Leicestershire, 1693. Died 16/10/1741 age 84. Son of William Pestell of Cole-Orton, Leicestershire, who was Rector of Ravenstone in 1667 and died in January 1695/6.
