London merchant, partner until 1774 with George Johnston. The two men had lent £5000 secured again William Macintosh's Grenada estates c.1765. He was probably the John Rae who went on to form a partnership with Thomas Reid and John Irving: if so, his will was proved 13/01/1824 with him as of Ashford, Middlesex.
